Destination

A horseback trail ride in the Provence valleys of the Doa and the Calavon, with ocher and lavender colors, of  riding between scrubland and pine forests, to the Claparedes Plateau and its dry stone huts (the bories), before following the path of the ridges where all of Provence unfolds before your eyes. You cross the hilltop villages of Viens and Saignon, in the streets of which the footsteps of horses resonate.

Itinerary
Programme intro

INDICATIVE ITINERARY *

Day 1: Lauris - Cucuron.
Meeting at 9 a.m., presentation of the horses and the itinerary, preparation of the horses. Departure of the ride at the foot of the "Petit" Luberon towards Lourmarin, a classified Provence village, then Vaugines and its chapel. You ride in pine forests, along olive groves, and vineyards. You reach your accommodation (tasting and sale of the property's wine is possible).

image 2130Day 2: Cucuron - Cereste.
You leave on horseback towards the foot of the "Grand" Luberon. Yiu ride up from the southern slope through a valley, to the crests of the highest peaks of the Luberon with breathtaking views of the peaks of the Alps to the north, to the sea to the south. Picnic and descent on the north slope towards Cereste.

Day 3: Cereste - Rustrel. 
You leave Cereste, at the gates of the "Upper" Provence. Then you cross the Calavon river, before heading towards the very beautiful perched village of Viens which you cross on horseback. You pass overlooking the Provençe Colorado with a superb view of the site, before reaching the horse park, near your evening lodge in the heart of the village of Rustrel.

The ride starts again on horseback with views of the Provençe Colorado. Picnic in the Provençal scrubland before heading to Saignon where you can water your horse at the village fountain. You reach the green valley of the Aiguebrun which you follow on a pleasant path along the water's edge before reaching the Seguins inn, where you stop for the night.

Day 5: Buoux - Lauris.
Return to the starting point of the ride, via the "Petit" Luberon ridges and a cedar forest.

Indicative itinerary which can be modified if necessary. Particularly in the event of an exceptional risk of fire.

MEETING/DEPARTURE

MEETING
The morning of day 1 at 9 a.m. in Lauris in the Luberon. Lauris is located 1 hour drive from Marseille and Avignon, 1/2 hour drive from Aix en Provence.

DEPARTURE
Late afternoon on day 5 around 5 p.m. in Lauris.

Riding

To participate and enjoy this horseback ride, you must be comfortable at the three paces (walk, trot, canter) on balanced horses.

AGE & WEIGHT:
From 12 years old. Maximum weight: 85 kg.

RYTHM:
5 hours riding per day on average: 2-3 hours in the morning, 2-3 hours in the afternoon. At three paces: walk, trot, canter when the terrain allows it.

NUMBER OF RIDERS:
3 + the guide.

GUIDE:
Qualified guide speaking French and English.

Mainly Camargue breed. Your guide chooses your horse on the morning of departure based on your height, weight, level and experience. All the horses are trail riding “professionals”. They only do this activity and live all year round in herds. For these reasons, they are balanced, kind and strong-willed.

TACK:
Comfortable western and trail riding saddles equipped with saddlebags that allow you to carry your lunch picnic as well as some personal belongings. Saddles adapted for the comfort of the horse, the comfort and safety of the rider.

The rental of the equipped horse, the guide, the assistant ensuring luggage transports, accommodation, meals with table water and 1/4 wine, luggage transports, the financial guarantee of your payments by our security deposit travel operator.

THE PRICE  DOESN'T INCLUDE
Individual insurance, drinks out of meals and not included, any visits, transport to and from Lauris, tips, everything that is not indicated in 'THE PRICE INCLUDES'.

INSURANCE:
A civil liability and travel insurance (assistance/repatriation) is compulsory. A cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
A payment by credit card can make you benefit from its possible insurance (check your contract).
