Horseback riding in the Spanish Pyrenees: canyons, mountains and volcanoes ! with breathtaking panoramic views.
This horseback ride in the Pyrenees in Spain is inspired by the biography of the famous "bandolero" Joan Sala Serrallonga, the Catalan Robin Hood. In northeastern Spain, the bandit Serrallonga wandered the Guilleries and Garrotxa mountains in the 17th century. A large wooded area with no path that provided good hiding places for outlaws. Canyons, mountain plateaus and volcanoes rise up in this wild landscapes. Rivers, lakes and waterfalls provide pleasant refreshing breaks. In the picturesque villages, stories are still told of bands of robbers and Catalan rebels. Today, this region is an incredible paradise for horseback riding.

The village fountain gargoyles and the trees provide pleasant shade. Brilliantly, your Spanish horse climbs in the afternoon in a superb landscape. In spring and summer, gray rocky mountain trails meander through deep green beech forest. In autumn, the forest shines with its golden colors: "Indian summer", the atmosphere is reminiscent of Canada. The open cattle pastures offer great views of the valleys and mountains. Spectacular rock formations accompany you on the way back to the remote village. From the terrace of your accommodation, you can observe the pasture where the horses rest.
Day 7: High plateau.
Today you ascend to a high plateau with spectacular views. Here, north and south, the Mediterranean and the high mountains, merge in a very special way. Lush meadows and dense beech forests cover the territory. The ferns spread out, the virgin forest proliferates and seems impenetrable. The temperatures are pleasantly cool, many springs and streams refresh riders and horses. In the heart of the high plateau is Jordi's solitary and cozy horse farm. My horse was perfect for me and I loved his nature and character. You could see that the health and welfare of the horses.
The tack that I rode in was clean and well maintained. It was also very comfortable. it was lovely to see that the comfort of the horses was taken into account with two rugs under their saddles and clean girths. I liked the way that we were taught to tack up and untack in order to maintain consistency for the horses.
he accommodation that we stayed in was lovely - it was great to stay in the medieval buildings. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and had all the facilities that I required.
