Horseback trail ride in Andalusia between the Southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean, in the Alpujarras. This equestrian trip is offered over 4 or 6 days on horseback. The Alpujarras are marked by a succession of fertile valleys descending from Sierra Nevada to the Mediterranean. A wild region with a climate and Mediterranean vegetation, dotted with white villages, typical of Andalusia, with a strong historical past, the last Moors refuge in Andalusia.

HORSEBACK TRAIL RIDE IN ANDALUSIA
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *

5 DAYS:

Day 1: Capilaira. Transfer from Granada or Malaga airport. Welcome, then presentation of the guide. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel *** in Capileira.

Day 2: Bubion - Valley of Poqueira - Bubion. Transfer of riders to the equestrian center (2Km). Presentation of the horses and departure for a morning on horseback in which you have the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the valleys of Poqueira and La Taha, and make your first gallop for the return to Bubion where you arrive for lunch. Four hours on horseback. Afternoon free to enjoy the charm of the villages of the Poqueira Valley. Dinner in a local restaurant and accommodation at the hotel *** in Capileira.

Day 3: Bubion - Trevelez. Transfer of riders to the equestrian center (2Km). You start with a climb on the GR-7 path that takes you to the Ravine of the Sangre, then you continue your climb on the dirt track where you have the opportunity to gallop before arriving at Trevélez. Snack during the ride and tapas in a local bar. This village is known for its hams and its highest elevation in Spain at 1700 m. Five hours on horseback. Option: visit of a ham dryer. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel**.

Day 4: Trevelez - Bubion. Back in Bubion, you start with a towpath that leads you to the Ravine of Bina after which you climb the steep Sulayr path. The climb allows you to discover a different view of the village and the Valley of Trevélez. The climb takes you along the Sulayr path to La Loma del Jabalí, to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the entire Rio Trevélez Valley, the Rio Guadalfeo Valley, and the peaks of the Sierra Contraviesa. After a ride through pine forests and small ravines, you arrive at Las Alcubillas for a picnic. At one of 2240m, it is the highest point of your stage today with a surprising view of the Sierra de Lujar, the peaks of the Sierra Contraviesa and the Mediterranean! On a clear day, it is possible to see the African coastline. You finish going down the forest paths along the Rio Poqueira valley to Bubion. Five hours on horseback. Transfer of riders to Capileira. Farewell dinner and accommodation in hotel ***.

Day 5: Departure after breakfast, transfer to Granada or Malaga airport.

6 DAYS:

Day 1: Capilaira. Meeting at Granada or Malaga airport airport or directly in the Alpujarras in Andalusia and introduction of the guide. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel ***.

Day 2: Bubion - Trevelez. Drive to the riding centre in Bubión (2 Km away from Capileira). Introduction of the horses. We will start by riding up along a bridle path to the track with views of the villages of the Poqueira Valley. Later on we will get the track that lead us to Trevélez. During the ride there are some opportunities for gallops with a magnificent panoramic vista of the Sierra Contraviesa and Lújar opposite us. Descend to Trevélez by a bridle path where we will arrive for lunch. There will be the opportunity to visit some of the ham drying houses of Trevélez, famous for its hams and considered  the highest village in Spain at an altitude of 1,700m. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel **. A five hour ride.

Day 3. Trevelez - Los Berchules. After crossing the bridge over the river, we will start this route by a bridle path that climbs the left slope of the ravine, leaving behind the village from which it takes its name. Riding down to Los Berchules by a track. Once again we will enjoy the beauty of the  Sierra Contraviesa and Sierra Gádor, this time in the province of Almería. On a clear day we will have the view of the Mediterranean Sea and the silhouette of the mountains of Africa in front of us. Arrival to Los Berchules by a bridle path. Dinner and accommodation tonight in a very comfortable, family-run hotel ***. Four and a half hours riding.

Day 4: Los Berchules – Cadiar. From Los Bérchules, we will descend to Narila, where   we will stop for water the horses and visit a breeding farm of P.R.E. (Spanish Pure Breed) horses. We ride now to the dry riverbed of Yator where later on we will take the path that leads up to the hill that separates Sierra Nevada and Sierra Contraviesa with breathtaking panoramic views over these two mountains. During the ride there are some opportunities for gallops. The ride passes through the village of Cádiar and will finish at the beautiful hotel ** where we should arrive just on time for lunch. Three hours riding. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 5: Cadiar  - Bubion. Crossing the Guadalfeo river, we will join the path that will lead us to Lobras, Nieles and Càstaras. We will continue until we reach the impressive gorge of Las Carihuelas de Busquístar, where we will descend to cross the Trevélez river, and we will follow the path which leads to the village of Busquístar for lunch. After lunch two more hours riding to Bubión. A six hour ride. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel *** in Capileira.

Day 6: Departure after breakfast. Transfer to Granada or Malaga airport.
